ژانر وحشت در طبقه‌بندی سینمایی علیرضا کاوه ژانری «تنانه–ادراکی» است؛ جایی که لحن از ترس، اضطراب، تهدید مرئی یا نامرئی، و واکنش بدنی تماشاگر شکل می‌گیرد. وحشت بر مرزهای دیدن/ندیدن، حضور/غیاب، و تعلیق میان تهدید و انتظار بنا شده است.

In Alireza Kaveh’s cinematic taxonomy, the horror film is a “corporeal–perceptual” genre. Its tone emerges from fear, anxiety, visible or invisible threats, and the spectator’s bodily response. Horror operates on the thresholds of seeing/not seeing, presence/absence, and the suspended tension between threat and anticipation.
